For example, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) developed a system called "Blockcerts" which uses blockchain to issue digital diplomas. These credentials are verifiable, secure, and entirely owned and controlled by the learner, effectively eliminating counterfeit certificates.

Learners can manage their own records on the blockchain, choosing exactly what data to share and with whom, ensuring lifelong privacy and security.
